Introduction to Clicker Training

May 21 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Clicker Training is one of many tools in a toolbox for a positive reinforcement based dog trainer.  A lot of people have heard of clickers or used them in a training class with their dog but don’t really feel comfortable with them.  They are a wonderful tool for us to use in shelter environments and utilize them in our training programs.  We only use clickers for positive reinforcement training and therefore have dogs that eagerly participate in our training sessions.
Taught by Sarge’s Animal Rescue’s Animal Behavior Coordinator, Caitlin Morrow, this class will cover an introduction to the how’s and why’s of positive reinforcement dog training and how clicker training is one of the tools we use to achieve our training goals.  This class will help attendees get comfortable using clickers as well.  It is a required class for the BIT training classes (dogs and cats) for Volunteers.  We will be covering how training works and will be doing some hands on practice to get you acclimated to training with a clicker.  Advanced registration is required.  This dog is for humans only so please leave your dogs at home.  You do not need to bring any equipment with you.
